Driving higher, and higher,
Away from the bay
Inland towards the road
Away from Hartlepool.
Up on the left diagonally
A windmill's perched,
Winged merlin,
From Before.
Higher still; we witness
The pursuit:
Revealed from over the brow,
About to grasp and swallow.
A turbine,
Massive, clean and new,
Relentless, outstretched,
Talons bared,
Reaching down for generations yore.
A pellet might reveal,
Remains of yesterday
Spewed from now.
